Did you find the perfect pumpkin to carve into this year’s Halloween Jack-O-Lantern? For your reference, here is a link with several pumpkin carving patterns and stencils. Happy carving!

After spending the time carving your pumpkin it can be extremely disappointing for it to rot before Halloween. So, after carving, do the following to ensure your pumpkin doesn’t rot before Halloween:

  • Spray all the carved areas of the pumpkin with a bleach solution (1 tablespoon of bleach per quart of water)
  • Allow the bleach to penetrate the pumpkin and let dry for approximately 20 minutes
  • Once dry, rub all the carved areas with petroleum jelly
  • Applying the bleach and petroleum jelly will help keep your pumpkin from rotting before Halloween
  • And, as an extra precautionary measure, always keep your pumpkin out of direct sunlight
